Never has there been a better time to share the hope that we have. People all around the world, because of this coronavirus, are asking these and numerous other questions:
- Where is God in all this?
- Why is this happening?
- Is God mad at us?
- Is He even real?
We, as followers of Jesus Christ, know that we have the only answer. Knowing God, and maintaining a personal relationship with Him through prayer, worship, and Bible Study is the reason for the hope that we have. We need to always be prepared to share that hope, and we can do that by sharing our personal experiences, stories, and testimonies with others. Have you ever been fearful? How did you get through that time? Have you ever doubted God? How did He prove Himself to you? How do you know Jesus is real?
The way I know Jesus is real…is because He changed me. The Bible tells us when we receive Jesus Christ as our personal Savior and choose to follow Him, He makes us a new creation. As I look back, I can see the difference He made in my life. And that is my story, often called a testimony.
A testimony in court is a witness declaring what they have seen and heard. We are witnesses, we have seen and heard Jesus at work. Your testimony may be your salvation story- how you came to be introduced to Jesus and how you responded. Or it may be a specific circumstance and incident in your life that shows how real He is to you.
Sharing our faith stories are opportunities to let God use the circumstances He has allowed in our life for His glory. When we can take a difficult time, show how God used it for His good and ours, then others can see how real He is. We know that is what unbelievers need to know. God is real. Although He is invisible and sometimes inaudible, we have seen Him at work in our lives. Knowing how to present that effectively can save someone’s life. Your story can change someone else’s eternity. Learn how to share it effectively, and do it!
