BOW News: Trip to Kenya?

By February 6, 2014June 16th, 2016No Comments

We have received an invitation to train about twenty Masai women who live in the Rift Valley of Kenya. WOW! We would love to participate in God’s work there. At this time we are praying and researching this opportunity so that we are wise in using our resources.

Our mission to grow women of influence means that we help the church mobilize God’s women to fulfill the call of God on their lives and make a difference in their spheres of influence. How great to mobilize women in Kenya who are asking for help in stepping out!

Our hope is to train this group of inter-denominational women in both general leadership and storying. Kay Daigle and Cindy Henderson have been trained by E3 Partners in teaching others how to craft and share the stories of the Bible orally in their own language. As the church recognizes the abundance of oral cultures around the world, many Christian groups are finding this to a vey successful method of both teaching God’s Word and evangelizing. In fact it works quite well here in our U.S. culture where I have used it a number of times in my own teaching!

A woman from E3’s orality team has offered to accompany us for this initial training. What a gift to us! Going this August requires our commitment to return and continue the training over the course of several trips, so it’s quite a decision for BOW. Kay and Cindy are repeating the orality training at the end of February to be updated as to what the E3 orality team has learned over the past couple of years about the best ways to train the nationals to use storying.

How can you participate?

At this time we are asking for prayer as we seek God’s will for us. Of course we will need funds if we go, but we aren’t ready to accept those until we commit.

Please pray for wisdom as we research this possibility. Ask God to provide all that we need to go—both in woman-power and in donations. Ask him to move among this precious group of women to provide what they need in training, either through BOW or other means.

Check back with us through our newsletter or this blog, and we’ll let you know!
